TEXAS HIGHER EDUCATION COORDINATING BOARD

September 11, 2006

Dear Regional Partner:

I am Priscilla Martinez, the Coordinating Board's Regional P-16 Field Specialist. I joined the Coordinating Board in mid-January, and since then, I have been promoting the College for Texans Campaign, establishing Go Centers, and creating partnerships with school districts, universities and colleges, and the community.

I would like to invite your campus to support the Go Centers initiative, which is part of the College for Texans Campaign, a statewide campaign to produce a college-going culture. With the assistance from a Go Center sponsor and G-Force members, your campus can have an active Go Center. My goal is to assist you and your staff in P-16 College Readiness and Success.

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has formed partnerships with several campuses in establishing Go Centers, College and Career Centers, to promote higher education and assist districts with their district improvement plans and help counselors meet Senate Bill 158. With the implementation of HB1, I am sure that our P-16 partnerships will strengthen, and I am looking forward to working with all regional partners.

This year, we are requiring all interested campuses to submit a Go Center Partnership Agreement, which lists the requirements to establish an effective Go Center. Thanks to Tech Prep of the RGV, Inc., from their website, you can now download the Go Center Partnership Agreement needed to start a partnership with us to promote the College for Texans Campaign on your campus. The agreement is to be faxed and then mailed to me once completed, and training, if needed, will be provided by the THECB and regional colleges and universities for G-Force Sponsor(s) and G-Force students.

You can also download the Go Center Manual, the resource guide to order free materials for your Go Center, and the Go Center forms (Go Center documentation list and instructions, Go Center sign-in sheet, G-Force information sheet, G-Force application, presentation/event sign-in sheet, presentation evaluation, and monthly report).

If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at (956) 364-4519.

Sincerely,

Priscilla Martinez, M.A.
P-16 Field Specialist
