After the first-ever Tech Prep Texas Scholars student recognition awards were given at Los Fresnos High School, Career and Technology Director Shannon Milum stated,

“We had the Tech Prep Texas Scholar ceremony this morning. It was unbelieveable. Superintendent, school board, principal...they all came. And the cord idea was a fantastic touch! Everyone wants to know what it takes to graduate as a Tech Prep Texas Scholar and the kids who got the cords just think they now ‘walk on water.’ What a day!”
