In May 2000, Monika Galvan graduated from Harlingen CISD as a Tech Prep Texas Scholar. She subsequently applied for, and received, a $4,000 Dr. Lauro F. Cavazos Tech Prep Scholarship to Texas State Technical College. Galvan states,

“I was very interested when my counselor mentioned some things known as “career pathways.” I thought that this was the key to getting that head start that my parents always told me to take. I . . . wanted to enter into the medical field . . . [and am] . . . thankful for all the help I have received.”

Galvan, who currently serves as a student member of the Tech Prep Board of Directors, will complete her associate degree in less than two years.
